First, I would like to thank the members of our community for nominating charities and voting over the last week. We have so many kind souls in our midst! Although only one charity could be chosen for our fundraising week, we would like to give some recognition along with a small donation of $50 to each of our second and third place organizations:

• New Horizon Dog Rescue
• Flower City Down Syndrome Network

As the top vote-getter-, we will be spending the week raising money and awareness for a cause called Sunshine on a Ranney Day.

Their mission as stated on their site: “The mission of Sunshine on a Ranney Day is to create safe, fun and uplifting dream-room makeovers for children with long-term illness. In addition, we provide care and encouragement to the families of each child.” You can find out more about what they do on their site, and we encourage those familiar with the group to leave comments on this post!

There are 3 ways you can help us raise money for them this week:

• Sunshine Rewards will be matching donations from member accounts. You’ll find a special cashout option for $5 in the Rewards section of the site. For every $5 cashout, we will match it!
• New items have been placed in the Sunshine Rewards Auction area. Many of you have probably never even heard of this section of our site! ALL of the proceeds from these auctions will go to SOARD.
• Not a member of Sunshine Rewards? We’d love to have you but even more would love your help in raising money this week. Simply use this special link: Coupons for SOARD. For every person who prints and uses grocery coupons using that link between now and  midnight on September 30, we will donate 35 cents. Anyone can print the coupons and you can come back and do it once every day!

Thanks to all of the Sunshine Rewards members who submitted some really great causes. We had a hard time even narrowing it down! Some causes received multiple nominations, so we gave those a little bit more weight. We also tried to narrow it down to different types of causes while including all the major categories (health, kids, animals, etc).

Feel free to leave comments in support of any charity listed but be advised that NEGATIVE comments about other charities may be removed. All of these charities are important to someone.

I encourage you to check out the websites of all of the charities before you vote. In addition to raising some money for a good cause, let’s also raise some awareness for all of them!
