Order Iron Jawed Angels at Sunshine Rewards

Published by at 8:48 pm under Learning and Education,Movies, Music and Books

Recently a member of our forum posted a forwarded email about the women’s voting rights movement and the importance of women voting. The email referenced a movie that I had never heard of–Iron Jawed Angels. The more that I learned about the movie, the more interested I became. Everywhere that I look, the movie gets rave reviews.

Iron Jawed Angels features an all-star cast including Hilary Swank, Anjelica Huston, Frances O’Connor,
Patrick Dempsey, and Julia Ormond. Produced by HBO, the official movie description states that it tells “the true story of how a pair of defiant and brilliant young activists took the women’s suffrage movement by storm, putting their lives at risk to help American women win the right to vote.” From what I have read, this includes the U.S. government imprisoning and force feeding women.

Unfortunately, it is hard to get your hands on this movie. I suspect it is in part because we are nearing a historic election and women everywhere are (wisely) getting more interested in the importance of voting. Although it will not ship for 2-4 weeks, if you are trying to figure out where to buy Iron Jawed Angels, you can order new from or HBO and used from eBay. If you are a member of Blockbuster, you can add it to your queue.

Below is a clip of the preview of Iron Jawed Angels. For more information about the movie and the history behind it, visit the Time Classroom.

This is a FABULOUS movie, one of my favorite sometimes rerun on HBO in the middle of the day. It’s a little bit jarring to have modern music/some modern slang/etc. with period costumes but it certainly doesn’t diminish from the message.

    It’s also available through Netflix.

Said it before, I’ll say it again. Too many women worked too darn hard for me to have the right for me not to vote.
