Vote on Which Charity We Will Support

Published by at 6:04 am under Sunshine Rewards News

Vote on a Charity

Thanks to all of the Sunshine Rewards members who submitted some really great causes. We had a hard time even narrowing it down! Some causes received multiple nominations, so we gave those a little bit more weight. We also tried to narrow it down to different types of causes while including all the major categories (health, kids, animals, etc).

Feel free to leave comments in support of any charity listed but be advised that NEGATIVE comments about other charities may be removed. All of these charities are important to someone.

I encourage you to check out the websites of all of the charities before you vote. In addition to raising some money for a good cause, let’s also raise some awareness for all of them!

Cast your vote using the poll below.  Voting is open to anyone (both SR and non-SR members). Only votes cast before midnight Eastern on Saturday night (September 21) will count.

1 ) American Cancer Society

2 ) St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital

3 ) Abundant Table

4 ) New Horizon Dog Rescue

5 ) Give Kids the World

6 ) Warrior Canine Connection

7 ) Go Lucy Go Foundation

8 ) Flower City Down Syndrome Network

9 ) Sunshine On a Ranney Day

10 ) Folds of Honor

I am putting in my heartfelt vote New Horizon Rescue as they deserve acknowledgment. It is a selfless organization, ego free full of courageous women and men doing the impossible everyday. They operate with volunteers and limited budgets. It is a case of miracles occurring, a heartbreaking job done daily, hour by hour and minute by minute with faith and grit. It is an example of the random acts of the kindnesses of strangers on a worthy mission working towards a collective unity. It is the important ,yet simple principle of mercy at work.

I am so glad that New Horizon Rescue was included! 😀 I currently foster for them, and they go above and beyond, pulling not only dogs but also cats that are on the kill list (for that day nonetheless), when other “big” rescues turn their backs. They selflessness has inspired many. Since they are not a large or known organization, they do not get the publicity or funding that some of the other rescues do. They work 24/7 to help these animals, and since they are on a very tight budget everyone including volunteers & fosters put in our own money to help them. It is time that they get the recognition and rewards that they so truly deserve due to all their hard work, and most importantly their caring & love of animals.

I am a volunteer and I foster CATS, of all things, for New Horizon Dog Rescue. They have single-handedly saved more cats than any other rescue from a high kill animal shelter in Tampa this summer, along with also saving dogs and cats from other shelters as well.

So far over 80 cats and kittens have been saved from being killed after their five day hold time is over.

Along with many other volunteers and fosters, we put in our own time, money, energy and enthusiasm to rescue, foster, treat, and adopt out these animals into loving homes. They run literally on a shoestring budget, no fancy fundraising, no slick marketing campaigns, just a bunch of great people with big hearts doing their best to save animals from being needlessly killed, and placing them in wonderful forever homes.

They work around the clock, thru the night and on weekends, to help animals on death row to be saved. They are an outstanding example of selfless service and love for animals.

I have worked for nonprofits most of my life, big ones and small ones, and unfortunately you cannot always trust where your money is going to go! I truly believe that New Horizon is an outstanding charity, and every penny they receive is going to go to the animals. This is where I place my volunteer time to save the animals, and this is where I place my vote.

I am a proud owner to the best dog ever from New Horizon Dog Rescue, which is a small privately owned and operated dog rescue that rescues dogs, literally on their last day, from kill shelters in Florida. Many of them come to them in really bad shape and in need of medical care. As they are not nationally known they don’t receive support like some of the bigger charities on the list. Any kind of fundraiser really means the world to them and would really help them pay for the treatment of these dogs. Thank you!

The Flower City Down Syndrome Network is there for families to help them navigate a world that is still not sure how to respond. They teach, advocate and provide safe places and safe experiences for families when they are struggling and celebrating life events.

I think all of these charities do good things, but Sunshine on a Ranney Day has proven what a group of people with determination and heart can do. The way they motivate people is an awesome thing and the way people get involved. and even the recipients who have such challenges in their lives end up working to pay it forward. We talk so often with fear of the future because we see young people making bad choices. Holly and Pete Ranney do so much to prove the future is bright-not just for those who have received their assistance, but also for those who contribute to the group.

Thank you for considering the American Cancer Society nomination on behalf of all the Sunshiners who are fighting cancer. I was diagnosed two and one half years ago with Stage 4 metastatic Renal Cell cancer. I’ve been fortunate to respond to targeted oral chemo but it is not a cure. My sister, Mary Lynn Rodgers, was not as lucky to respond to her chemo. Many of you knew her as iTeach from the Forum. She was diagnosed with cancer in March and passed away on June 30. Please honor her memory and her contributions to Sunshine Rewards by selecting this charity. Many thanks.

This is a wonderful organization! It was born out of a desire to help one injured little boy and has blossomed into an army of volunteers and companies donating time and materials to accomplish the goals they have set for themselves in helping children. In just a short time they have changed the lives of so many children that have either an illness, injury or born with an issue. Vote for them, they deserve it like no one I’ve ever seen before.

What a fabulous and worthy organization – Sunshine on a Ranney Day! And how creative the name. May God continue to grant them the courage to step out on behalf of so many in need. Thank you all who work on their projects and make donations to them.

Sunshine on a ranney day goes up and beyond for kids with disabilities. They don’t put in 100% they put in 120% to make sure these kids have what they need to make life easier on them. And it cost that person nothing. It’s all paid for by Sunshine on a Ranney day. I follow them on facebook what they do for these kids and there families is unbelievable. They restore hope and faith into everyone!!!

Please vote for Sunshine on a Ranney Day. They do so much for so many families in need. They really are a wonderful couple and a wonderful foundation. I follow them on facebook and have read up on this company, extensively. What they are able to do for the families they help is nothing short of miraculous. Sunshine on a Ranney Day brings hope to families who may have, otherwise, lost their hope. They truly are a terrific foundation and deserve all of the funding that they can get. I encourage you to check out their website:

Please take a minute and vote for Sunshine on a Ranney Day. The mission of Sunshine on a Ranney Day is to create safe, fun and uplifting dream-room makeovers for children with long-term illness. In addition, we provide care and encouragement to the families of each child. They are doing such a wonderful job, not just in our local community, but everywhere because of the large following they have gained.

My son and daughter-in-law just adopted a dog from New Horizon. He is sweet, loving, calm and very well trained. How terrible to know that if he was not rescued by New Horizon he would not be alive today to bring so much joy to their family.

Please give to this charity. These people are saving many dogs !!!

Thank you for including New Horizon Dog Rescue Trisha!! NHDR is a small dog rescue that rescues dogs, literally on their last day, from kill shelters in Florida. Many of them come to us underweight, filled with parasites and in need of medical care. We have quite a few dogs that are undergoing heartworm treatment. We also have dogs that are in need of surgery. Since we are not nationally known we don’t receive support like some of the bigger charities on the list. Any kind of fundraiser really means the world to NHDR and our dogs. Thank you!

My son Tyler was born with Down Syndrome. He is the light of my life. The FCDSN will always be important to me. I love meeting new families and love that we can all be there for each other sharing support and advice.

Thanks so much for including the Flower City Down Syndrome Network in the voting group! My son is 16 and has Down syndrome. and ASD. I’ve been using Sunshine Rewards for a few years now to help fund our annual Disney trip. It’s the best place to take him and he loves it!
