September 22, 2008 has arrived. It’s the first day of fall, and summer is officially over. Recently a member of our forum posted a forwarded email about the women’s voting rights movement and the importance of women voting. The email referenced a movie that I had never heard of–Iron Jawed Angels. The more that I learned about the movie, the more interested I became. Everywhere that I look, the movie gets rave reviews.

Iron Jawed Angels features an all-star cast including Hilary Swank, Anjelica Huston, Frances O’Connor,
Patrick Dempsey, and Julia Ormond. Produced by HBO, the official movie description states that it tells “the true story of how a pair of defiant and brilliant young activists took the women’s suffrage movement by storm, putting their lives at risk to help American women win the right to vote.” From what I have read, this includes the U.S. government imprisoning and force feeding women.

Unfortunately, it is hard to get your hands on this movie. I suspect it is in part because we are nearing a historic election and women everywhere are (wisely) getting more interested in the importance of voting. Although it will not ship for 2-4 weeks, if you are trying to figure out where to buy Iron Jawed Angels, you can order new from DeepDiscount.com or HBO and used from eBay. If you are a member of Blockbuster, you can add it to your queue.
