View Full Version : Daily Survey Technical Issues Thread

I have closed the old DS thread because we want to start out fresh and new and it is difficult to find good information in the old one.
Here are the rules for the new one:
1. Only post about technical issues involving specific surveys. i.e. I took a survey on TV's and it gets hung up in the middle.
2. Do not post about issues with having surveys available to you
3. Do not post asking about credits for surveys sometimes they don't come until late afternoon so please have patience. If something happens and they won't credit for the day Tricia will post a general forum announcement to the fact.
4. SR can not do anything about the number of surveys available so if you can not get a survey keep trying throughout the day the often load new surveys but please don't use this thread to let us know about it since we can not do anything to help with that. If there is a general issue with people not getting surveys Tricia will know because it will reflect in lower survey credits coming through.
5. Please remember to use the Report a Survey Problem Link at the bottom of the survey PAGE for Surveys that give you issues. Greenfield does not read this thread and will not know if there is a problem unless YOU report it through that link.
I appreciate you guys following these rules and helping us keep this thread as it was meant to be, a place to find out about surveys that are technically flawed so that we can avoid them or see that it wasn't just our computer causing the issue.
Good luck on your surveys guys and have a great day! :sunshine:

Here is the information from the top of the other thread so that everyone can read and be refreshed on the rules of taking surveys:
As requested I am add this information for those who have survey questions about the general idea of taking surveys. Thanks to faithhope for compiling it.
Credits Monday through Thursday Surveys will USUALLY credit the next day. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Surveys usually credit on Monday. Greenfield has normal working hours (ie Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm) and will take off on holidays which can delay survey credits. These credits normally come in by 9:30 AM EST but if Greenfield is behind it maybe closer to 12PM EST. Please do not panic if your surveys do not credit by 9:30AM. Sometimes they do not come in until late afternoon. It is not an issue unless it has become midnight and they still haven't credited. Tricia will post a general forum announcement if surveys will not credit for the day. If she hasn't posted then you can still expect them to credit at some point that day.
You can complete one survey a day, so if you get a "sorry you don't qualify for this survey" message, try again, keep trying until you get to complete a survey.
If you complete a survey, do not try to take another one as Greenfield has started tracking people who take multiple surveys in a day and will start banning you from their surveys. Sometimes survey credits get stuck and you may get 2 survey credits in one day. This is ok. It is when it happens regularly that you will run the risk of getting shut out.
If you get a connecting to partner site message during a survey.. go ahead, greenfield has many partner sites that pay for surveys via SR
If you get a no more surveys available for you message, go back through SR and try again... they add surveys at all times, so keep trying even a minute later. Please note that surveys are loaded during GF's operating hours - not after hours, not on weekends, not on holidays. If you get this message repeatedly during the day then chances are there really are no more surveys for your demographics. This is ok. Do not panic, you are not banned. Just take a day off and try again tomorrow.
Unfortunately, using another email address or changing demographics (ie having another member of your household try to qualify) is no longer permitted and can result in bannation from GF and potentially SR. Ground rules are being developed on surveys and will be posted when finalized. Until then, please only use 1 email address per account and 1 set of demographics. Thanks!
There is NOT a strict 24 hour time limit (it used to be so... but not anymore). so go ahead and try before your 24 hour time if you need to for any reason... you will either be allowed to take another survey or you will get the exceeded limit message. Sorry, I really don't know what the new rules are. Some people get stuck in 24 hour loops while others do not. Just try to keep track and don't panic if you are having issues. You may just be in a loop.
Please do not submit TT to Sunshine Rewards for survey credits. SR is not able dispute credits. SR has instituted the new link on the bottom of the survey page if you run across any surveys that give you error messages. Posting about issues here will NOT get them resolved by Greenfield
We really do try our best but we are basically at the mercy of Greenfield. Most members do get credit for surveys about 95% of the time when we look at the overall number of survey credits in a month. And you do not always have to get taken back to the SR page to get credit. I keep posting this but I am not sure how else to get the message to everyone. Sometimes someone besides GF hosts the survey. In that case, you do NOT get taken back to SR at the end. And you do NOT get your credit the next day. But within a couple of weeks, you will all of a sudden get an extra credit in the day.
A lot of people will post things like "Somehow I got two credits for yesterday but I only took one survey. What's up with that?" It's because the delayed credit was imported by GF.
It doesn't ALWAYS happen that way, but it does happen every month. So sometimes it works out but just takes a bit.

questions:
"Report a Survey Problem Link at the bottom of the survey thread"...do you mean at the bottom of the survey page? Not thread?
"If you complete a survey, do not try to take another one as Greenfield"...I think a big huge wonderful fabulous HELP would be to *define* "complete a survey".
Does it mean "I got to the SR "congratulations you have completed the survey" page (or whatever it says, LOL, I've been away so haven't completed one and can't remember the exact wording), or does it mean ANY "you have completed the survey" page? I think that was one of the most-asked questions in the old thread!
And...this is for Greenfield since I guess they are running the error reporting page? The wording above the boxes says that it's for surveys that didn't take you to the SR page. But then they ask for errors and error messages. Is it OK if it wasn't a problem that resulted in not getting to the SR congrats page? Is it OK if there wasn't an actual error message?
The wording is just confusing, and I know that I have been stopped in my tracks from reporting surveys before, b/c I didn't have an error message, or the problem I had happened well before expecting to get back to SR.
Thanks!

My responses are in red:
questions:
"Report a Survey Problem Link at the bottom of the survey thread"...do you mean at the bottom of the survey page? Not thread?
Yes. I just copied and pasted that part so I would say yes if you need to report an issue use the link on the Daily Survey page so that it goes to GF
"If you complete a survey, do not try to take another one as Greenfield"...I think a big huge wonderful fabulous HELP would be to *define* "complete a survey".

Well here is the thing. We can leave it to your discretion to decide if you have completed the survey or not. OR we can say that any time you get a completed message whether from the survey company or us you have to stop. I think the discretion is probably better since most people will know if they completed it for credit or not.

If you have a technical issue with a survey then report it. Now, this doesn't mean that you get a message that says you didn't qualify after taking the survey for 20 minutes. That isn't technical that means they thought you went too fast. If the survey hangs up or gives you any other technical issues then report it to GF so they can pull the surveys that aren't working.
I think for the most part if people use prudent judgement we won't have survey issues. Don't do anything you think might be considered fraud by SR or GF. If you have to ask you probably shouldn't be doing it. Don't use the thread to complain. Use it as a tool to let your fellow members when there are TECHNICAL issues with a survey. Not just " I didn't like that one" If you think you will get credit for it...it didn't have a technical issue. We are really trying to make the forums a place to gain useful information while also enjoying some fun, games and chit chat with others. When every thread becomes a complaint, people skip all of the threads and no one gains useful information or has fun.
Thanks!

I have been trying most of the morning to get a survey with no luck. Twice I have been in a survey and got an error message- We're sorry, but the survey you are trying to access is currently unavailable.
Please try again later.
The first was about soda, the second was about cream cheese.

So - is it OK to say that I keep suddenly getting 'internet explorer cannot display page' when i go to try for a survey - because otherwise my internet is connecting. If not please delete. - seems that some others have had this problem.

I don't want you guys to think I am just randomly deleting posts in this thread so I will let you know what my criteria is for keeping a post as opposed to deleting it.
It basically comes down to the difference between qualifying issues and technical issues. GF won't do anything about qualifying issues. If you take a survey and it gets to the end and tells you that you don't qualify it is part of the survey and while it sucks it is not technical. The survey did what it was created to do. If you get any kind of 'you don't qualify' message it is not considered technical and we can't report it to GF so you wouldn't post about it here.
If you are taking a survey and it freezes or it gives you an error page or it closes out or anything else that doesn't give you a competion message or a you dont qualify message it is considered technical. These would be issues that would make a survey impossible to take. We need to report these to GF so that they can pull the survey or fix the technical issue. These should be reported on the GF report link and also you can put it on this thread so that other people can see there is a technical issue with that survey.
We also can't have posts in this thread about qualifying for surveys. If you aren't getting any options it means GF doesn't have anything for you to take but you can keep trying back to get one because they often load new surveys.
I hope this clears it up some so you guys won't feel so wierd or unsure if what you are posting is ok or not. I appreciate you guys trying to keep this thread to technical issues. It will help us to get those broken surveys taken care of quicker because we don't have to fish for them in a thread full of other things. Thanks! :sunshine:

Hi Janet, thanks for the explanation!
Is there a place to mention problems with OTX, like where at the very end you get the message "sorry we have experienced an unexpected technical error, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us"??
Also, remember how the OTX was, and might still since there are people with b'days to the end of the year, needing us to put the age we *would* be this year? Without people reporting that, no one would have known that, and people with birthdays after Jan 1 wouldn't have gotten any OTX surveys this year. What if something like that is happening (with Greenfield or OTX), but it *seems* to be just a qualifying thing and it requires multiple people reporting exactly what happened when they were disqualified? How will you find out about it?
jnorth1007
12-13-2008, 02:56 PM
If for some reason you find an odd thing like that we would be ok with you reporting that here. However, we can't let it turn in to a thread full of I didnt qualify posts. I don't really remember how we found out about that but it seems that it was because OTX told us we were lying when we entered our age. If something happens and they are telling you that have lied about something you know is truthful it would be fine to report that. Simply getting a message that says that you don't qualify would not be reported though. Thanks.

Actually the only surveys where Tricia can report any type of problem are those that are through Greenfield which is why technically SM surveys can be reported even if you go through the SM link.
OTX is run through a third party and Tricia has tried to get into contact with that 3rd party and OTX before and has gotten no response so it is kind of pointless to discuss OTX issues. So in a nutshell that is why this thread is for GF issues and there isn't anything for OTX issues.

not meaning to drag this thread off topic, but just adding a bit on the OTX issue - I have tried directly contacting them myself thru email/tech support and no response there, either. so they aren't very good communicators!

I have a technical question.
I just did a survey this morning. When I got the congradulations page, I didn't close the page. I left for about an hour. When I just sat down on the computer, I saw the message, "your time has expired, please take another survey"?
When I clicked on it, it took me back to the survey page options.
I am wondering if I should retake a survey or not worry about it, since I got the congradulations page.

I got a survey today about junk mail and spam. I answered quite a few questions for about 5-10 minutes until it finally told me I didn't qualify to complete the survey. But I was routed back to the 'congratulations' page.
Has this happened to anyone else, and did you get credit?

Do you think my survey will credit and is there something I might have done during the survey to get logged out of SR? TIA

if you were logged in when you started the survey you should hopefully get credit for it as the ds tracks by your id. i have a question - i had options this morning that i qualified for, started 3 surveys and after about getting halfway thru them and hitting continue i get the page that says i don't qualify for any surveys. how can you qualify for a survey, start one and then be told you don't qualify when you know you do?

this has happened to me too, marcy, I think it is something to do with quality control sometimes - somehow they decide you were doing the survey too fast or something, so they kick you out :( It's frustrating, yes, but it just seems to happen sometimes even when you think aren't doing anything wrong.

I've gotten two surveys that go through the qualifying questions, and then pop open a ton of windows to download videos... and then when I click next (not done too fast - I let all the videos finish downloading) it tells me no surveys...
Something is broken on this one.
Mod Note: There have been 7 other reports of the same thing so if you see this survey back out and report it to Greenfield. No need to report it in this thread again since we have a heads up now on it.

jnorth1007
12-27-2008, 02:32 PM
They could have disqualified you because they thought you went to fast or because one of your answers didn't match up. I wouldn't worry about it. Now we know it wasn't a technical issue with the survey so we need to move on and not keep discussing a qualifying issue we have no control over in the technical thread for surveys that are broken. Thanks!

Forgot to mention this yesterday. I did report it through the link, so it might be fixed by now. It also might have been due to using Safari, when I normally use Firefox (and of course they say to use IE but I have a Mac and IE for Macs isn't very functional).
It was a car survey, very typical car survey. But quite a lot of the way into it, I couldn't go further, because the choices didn't show up. No choices, can't make choices, can't go further. :(
Anyway, I did report it, but just in case anyone else came across it while it's still broken (if it's broken and not just a browser or computer issue of mine, which I did seem to be having yesterday before I updated my computer  ), I wanted to let you know you're not alone (though I hope I am alone and that it's fixed or not broken, because it took away my will to do surveys yesterday when it happened!).

Just a reminder that this thread is only for technical issues. This means you start a survey and can't complete because of a error message of some sort or the survey freezes up.
Failure to qualify is NEVER considered a technical issue no matter how much we want to believe there must be something wrong with the system the fact is sometimes we just dont qualify for a survey.
Please keep this thread open to just technical issues. Thanks!

I just spent 30 minutes on a car commercial survey.
It shows a commercial for a split second and asks what car commercial it is for. You can barely see the advertising.
It did at leas 6 of these, and then it went to a print ad for a car.
Then it went back to these video's.
There is something wrong with this survey. I reported it to Phoenix that the video's were only showing a split second. I got the response back that You didn't qualify this time, sorry.
I got this survey last week and it did the same thing.

:computer: aarrgghh! Finally get a survey, automotive ads, and now, after working on it slowly so not to get kicked out, it comes to a page that says the page I am trying to view is under construction or not available on the server. The 1st survey I have really had a chance for in days & it has to have a tech problem!:headache:

Has anyone else gotten the one for kids about movies? Everytime it goes to show the commercial it gets an error an freezes. First it did it as an adult survey then DH got out of it and tried a new one, this time it asked for a child's opinion and then froze again in the exact same spot. He says it's one he got a week or so ago that did the same thing. He sent an email to both greenfield and PSB but got no reply.

Just as an FYI also the reason there is no OTX technical thread is because they don't accept feedback on their surveys so with OTX you pretty much 'get what you get and don't throw a fit' (as my son would say, LOL) I haven't gotten an OTX in literally months so you aren't alone. I haven't been doing surveys for quite some time but we have what I think is a bizarre issue (well, maybe not bizarre, but strange) going on. When I do a GF survey (just had my first one in 3 months!) I have no issues getting into the survey area and starting the survey. Either I qualify or I don't, no real issue there.
There's another person in our office who has been doing SR for almost as long as I have (separate IP addresses on all computers here in the office) and when she goes to start a survey, after clicking the applicable boxes, she's directed to the Greenfield site which then asks her to sign up for the site. This has only been happening to her recently as the last survey she was able to get into was on January 18.
Has anyone else experienced this situation?

Yes, I did get all kinds of crazy stuff happening with my computer. My address book disappeared, 2 web pages would open at the same time when doing offers, surveys not crediting, being redirected to Greenfield's home page to join their site directly, etc... I took the recovery/restore disks that came with my computer and had to "crash" it and take it all the way back to factory specifications. It's a big pain but it, so far, seems to have gotten rid of the spyware. I went to Best Buy and bought Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus. It was $50.00 but you can set it to do your sweeps overnight and in the morning I just hit the quarantine button and it's gone. It also quarantines spyware as I'm using it and a message will pop up informing me. I'm still updating my computer to where I had it most recently. I did try to download some free removal programs but my mouse blew and I don't know if they would have helped or not. There's a ton of great info. in the thread regarding it. If you decide to go this route, keep in mind that you'll have do manual updates with Microsoft. My computer, after the clean-up, wouldn't recognize my printer software. I had to go to the manufacturer's website and update that as well. It all takes time but seeing the first survey credit after having problems for a month was well worth it! Just make a list of everything you'll have to update (and you'll run into things along the way) and cross it off as you complete it. Hope this helps and Good Luck!

FYI, a while back Tricia told us that GF doesn't allow surveys to have us download anything. So if that sort of thing is required in the future, don't do it, don't do the survey, and report that survey to GF.

On the survey page that usually has the green GF image you click on to get to the survey page, the image is not there for me, and when I tried clicking on the space just in case, I get 'Internet Explorer cannot display the page'. Very odd. (there have been times I clicked on the space when the image didn't show up and have gotten thru, just not today )
I'm getting the exact same thing.

all right, this is really weird, because I cannot get anything to load in either Firefox or IE - whether it be the GF surveys, OTX, or any of several offers that I clicked on to see if they would work; this is happening in both browsers????

I thought maybe it was a problem on Greenfields end since I can't get into the daily or super member survey but now I get the same thing with OTX also. I guess I'll go try some offers since surveys aren't looking good today. That's the great thing about SR- there's other ways to make money. (Maybe I'll do some shopping while I'm at it too!)

Sorry, but this survey is currently undergoing service and has been temporarily closed.

When we get a message like this, is it safe to assume that we can try again for the daily survey?
By the way, the survey was about a variety of topics, including gum.

I have been given a movie survey, several times, this wk. It is a DS thru psb or pbs. At any rate, I am told that it can not be done on IE 8 so I switch over to FireFox and do fine until I get to the movie video that just will not load. I emailed psb, thru the link at the bottom of the page.

I just got this one as well. I did notice that the green check mark was in the address bar, so it looks like it might have been received by Greenfield.
I had one this weekend that took me to a blank page (no thank you at all, not just no SR page), but the green check mark was in the status bar. If it credits, I won't try another one today and will hope that this one will credit. If it doesn't, I'm not sure what I'll do today. The credit might come in later, and I don't want it to appear that I am trying to get more than one survey each day, but I need lots of help to make SM this quarter and don't want to miss an opportunity either. I think the official word is to stop if you get a thank you - I'll have to go look that up.

I got stuck on a fiber survey today - the continue button stayed grayed out after I watched a commercial. I reported it under the SR link, but after I copied and pasted the webpage, the survey fixed itself and I was able to continue and get the congrats page.
I'm not sure how to "unreport" a survey, so I wanted to let someone know that I reported it but I was able to finish after the report.
In case anyone else gets stuck, I refreshed and watched the commercial again two more times - it didn't help. When I highlighted the page and copied it, the continue button appeared. It may have just been that the page was extremely slow to load, but the other commercials loaded fine.

No matter how much time you spend of them, it does not work. Maybe tthe SR staff might have some suggestion for this survey. I didn't know that! I did the same one, downloaded it and completed the survey and it did credit.

Some of you have been reporting that you stopped a survey because it wanted you to "download something" but it was not a toolabr of any kind. Rather, it was ActiveX or java or something that your browser needed to be able to view all of the aspects of the survey. This is not the same. The only thing that they should not be asking you to download are toolbars.

Thanks for the clarification. I closed out of the gaming survey because it required a download. I don't think it was Java or Active X, but it was some kind of program to track the survey responses. It wasn't a toolbar, though. I didn't realize that there were some downloads in surveys that were OK to do - I thought like Mollyeilis that there weren't supposed to be any downloads. I'll know better next time, so thanks for letting us know!

Just to add most of the computers already have Active X installed or have used it in the past, it's used for a lot of flash players and stuff of the sort. So if it's asking you to install/download it more then likely it's an updated version. Same with the java apps, most of us running newer computers already have something similar just needs updated.

I'm done with movie survey's.
My dd usually will do survey's for me on the weekend and my son does too and they get usually hit with a movie survey.
I know I just did one on "The Happiest Place on Earth"s new movie coming out.
I was doing a SM tonite and another movie survey came up.
I know I just did one this week, and after a few questions, it asked me if I done a survey within the last 3 months and I said yes.
It is not worth the time to do one and get eliminated in the end because they do keep track.
After I did that tonite, I got a really fast one on my kids "texting" habits.
They should have asked me about my dh emailing habits on his phone. He is going to kill us. He drove the other nite 15 miles and he typed in an e-mail the whole way. I was so darn mad, I almost thru the phone out the window when he was done. He is suppose to hook his phone up to his computer and download his e-mails, but he don't.
Vent over, carry on.

Is it just us? My DH has only been able to qualify for one DS this month. He tried yesterday and kept getting shut out, now today when he tries he gets this message: We?re SorryThank you for your willingness to participate and share your opinion in our online surveys. Unfortunately, we have no new surveys available at this time. We expect to have new surveys added shortly so please feel free to try back tomorrow.
Thank you again for taking the time to provide honest and thoughtful answers to our surveys.
I wouldn't ask but I keep seeing posts about how DS are plentiful and I am just wondering if he did something wrong.

Early last year, GF sprang some rules on us that we weren't aware of. We were using the info available, which involved some things that are absolutely not allowed anymore (so I won't even get into it). They realized we were doing it and blocked almost all of us for several weeks until they could really look through and see who was defrauding them and see who had just made a mistake (that we didn't know was a mistake). Then they laid out the rules for us and let us back in. It was not a fun time.
People are being reminded of it by there being absolutely no choices for some, where you fill in your info and then get nothing to check off, b/c that's the way it looked for us until we were let back in.

Greenfield took the ability to take surveys away from many people because we were using multiple email addresses to get surveys but at the time we thought it was okay. When they reinstated our ability to take surveys it was on the rule that we could only use one email address.
I really hope that we haven't done anything "bad" again. I would really miss that extra $$.

No, I do not believe those survey credit, so I have learned anytime its a movie survey that starts out with okay I agree page, also ask for kids 6-12, 7-11, 13-17 never do go back, and do not credit. GF has been using these surveys for a long time, many posts have been noted here, they never go back and to my knowledge do not credit. I leave them alone. We have all got burnt with this survey, and it seems every weekend they are there, and of course there are no others one to take.
